Why We Did It

We started Five Stones Press as a response to what was happening to me and to other authors with solid resumes of reviews, nominations, and awards, but who didn't achieve stellar sales. In my case, I got hit by the perfect storm of my contract with Harcourt ending, the Harcourt-Houghton Mifflin merger (which cast a number of worthy talents out the window), and the decline in the economy overall. I decided I didn't want to leave my career totally in the hands of a New York publishing world that is in flux, and so I partnered with two savvy friends to sell shares in my next book, "The Fall," which will be released March 15th. If nothing else, the unique business model is garnering much attention. You can read more here: http://fivestonesllc.com. I'll be pleased to hear what you think about this venture.
